On August 4th, I blogged about Shadow the snake, the unofficial HOA manager of my front porch, who has become somewhat of a local legend in our neighborhood. Shadow, with his sleek, shimmering scales, often basked in the sun, drawing the admiration of passersby. However, I haven’t seen Shadow since then, and I was beginning to wonder if he had unfortunately become a victim of mother nature’s fickleness or if he simply decided to move on to greener pastures. Well, to my surprise, I found the skin that Shadow crawled out of recently, nestled by my foundation, a remarkable reminder of his presence. It was both a relief and enlightening to see that Shadow is still around, thriving and growing, and hopefully, I will spot him again before the cold weather sets in and he begins to take a long winter hibernation nap, disappearing into the depths of his cozy burrow until spring heralds his reappearance.
